A painter. During the Restoration, he made a name for himself in Milan as a landscape painter in the tradition of Marco Gozzi. In 1829 he spent time in Rome, where he portrayed the Lazio countryside. A professor of landscape painting at Brera from 1838 to 1856, he was close to Hayez and D'Azeglio. He also worked on historic landscapes, painting battle scenes (The Battle of Guastalla and The Battle of Verona) for Charles Albert. He started exhibiting in Turin in 1838.
