The Wife and the Painter, 1925

Biography

After studying music, she moved to Italy in 1906. In Turin from 1913 to 1928, she was a lady-in-waiting in the Gualino family but in the meantime she took up painting, close to the Casorati school. She exhibited her work from 1923, taking part in the Venice Biennale in 1926, 1928 and 1930 with works influenced by French currents, and especially by Matisse. In 1929 she joined the Gruppo dei Sei in Turin, but soon left them, in 1930.
