Biography

After studying art in Piacenza, he moved to Milan in 1934. He joined the "Corrente" group and put on his first solo show in the "Corrente Bottega" in 1941, with a presentation by Elio Vittorini. After the war he acquired a greater interest in Picasso and French painting. Matisse, Modigliani, Soutine, Manessier and Bazaine are probable sources of inspiration for his painting, which, even though tending more towards more abstract chromatic and structural forms, never abandoned representation.
