Biography

A painter and sculptor. From 1916 he made friends with de Chirico, Carrà and Savino in Ferrara. Self-taught, he created works with metaphysical overtones. In 1920, he worked with "La Ronda" and "Valori Plastici" in Rome. He created his own personal chromatic "shorthand", a mild form of impressionism using small touches of light colour. From 1925 he became one of the most prominent of "les Italiens" in Paris. In 1940 he started working in Milan, and then in Venice, to constant critical acclaim.
