Biography

One of the leading Arte Povera artists, he liked using literary materials, maxims and famous sayings, often inserting them on marble tombstones. He worked extensively with Ontani in the Bentivoglio studio in Bologna. In the 1980s he mainly painted landscapes, making reference to known and fantastical worlds, and he later turned to the representation of books. He exhibited many times at the Venice Biennale and in museums and galleries.
