Biography

After studying art in Venice, he settled in Rome (1943). In 1946 he was one of the signatories of the "Forma 1" manifesto he and soon joined the "Fronte Nuovo delle Arti". In 1952 L. Venturi included him in the Gruppo degli Otto, a group of artists attempting to overcome the dichotomy between realism and abstraction. At the end of the decade, his figurative elements, which were originally congealed in schematic linear grids, were evolving towards informality, incorporating unconventional materials, collage and experiments with colour.
